Qualification & Education
Claire is a fully qualified podiatrist with current membership of the SCPI (Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists Ireland). Claire did her Bsc. Honors degree in NUI Galway.
Claire is also on the Approved Lists of Chiropodists/Podiatrists Eligible to Work in the Public Health Service in Ireland*.
Claire obtained experience at undergraduate level in clinical practice within the HSE clinic in Merlin Park Hospital, Galway. During this time Claire also gained experience in private practice and in a specialist MSK clinic. Through these clinics Claire was exposed to a wide range of specialist areas within podiatry including; high risk wound care, rheumatology, vascular and neurological assessments, paediatrics, MSK and sports clinics, functional and palliative orthotics prescription and manufacture, diabetic assessment, nail surgery and routine podiatry care (nail care, callus, corns and verrucae). She also has experience of working with the vascular team and diabetic team within University Hospital Galway.
Her special interest areas are MSK, orthotics, biomechanical assessments, paediatrics, ingrown toenails and routine care.
*Named podiatrists who have successfully completed the application process with their LHO (Local Health Office) and are on the "Approved Lists of Chiropodists/Podiatrists Eligible to Work in the Public Health Service in Ireland" can accept the Chiropody Card and the podiatrists name will appear on the card. This entitles the bearer to discounted chiropody treatment with Spectrum Health named podiatrists.
