Qualification & Education
Saoirse is a fully qualified Podiatrist with current membership of the SCPI (Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists of Ireland) and the SCPOD (Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists). Saoirse graduated from Plymouth University with B.Sc. (Hons) in Podiatry, holding certificates in the administration of local analgesia and prescription only medication.
Saoirse has carried out further professional development in the following areas; Wound Management, Podo-Paediatrics and Gait Analysis and Biomechanics.
Since graduating she has also completed further study in Joint Mobilisation, Ankle Mobilisation, Soft tissue Mobilisation, as well as the application of Acupuncture and Dry Needling
Saoirse is currently undertaking her Postgraduate Studies at University of Ulster focusing on Biomechanics and Gait analysis along with specialist prescription orthotics.
Saoirse has experience in all areas of Podiatry having worked with patients in an NHS Primary Care Centers across the South West of England, including The National Hospital For Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, assessing the lower limb complications of arthritis focusing on Ankylosing Spondylitis. The Sports Department at Cirencester NHS and the Pediatric Department in Plymouth NHS.
In this time she has gained experience in General foot care treatment (corns, callous, verruca), Biomechanical assessment and prescribing Functional and Palliative foot orthotics as well as the administration of local anesthetic and nail surgery.
Saoirse also works along-side her mother in Private practice, which helps her to combine her mother’s past experience as as well as up to-date technologies to provide the best outcome for her patients.
She has also had articles published in Irish Newspapers regarding her opinion on Care of the Paediatric foot and on General footwear.
Saoirse has a keen interest in Biomechanics and the sporting patient as-well as conditions including stroke and lower motor neuron disease.
